Bura made two sabres for us. One a more classical type which has the traditional steel handle, guard, and double edge near the tip albeit Bura has fancied it up for us. You have seen this one and it's gone.

Then he made another saying, "if I were going to make a sabre for the king to give to some visiting bigshot I would make this one." This is it.

It is 30 inches and 2.5 pounds and an exercise in excellence. I personally like this one better because the handle feels more comfortable in the hand -- and it's a little lighter than the village model which suits me. I don't know what to say about this rig except it is a 10/10 effort by Bura and everything looks perfect to me -- fit, finish, general execution. The edge is near razor sharp but I did not want to destroy the great appearance with my old file so I am trusting that Bura put his usual 58 Rc on this edge. The guy who gets this can test it and if it is not up to snuff we will certainly make things right as always. The pix tell about the handle work better than I can.

The scabbard is a collaboration of Bura and sarki with no name. Presentation style, hinged in the back as you can see with stainless steel piano hinge and has a commercially produced lock. Red velvet lined. Good leather cover.

We will deliver this presentation grade rig to your door for $195 if you'll send us a field report.

Call or email if interested and stay tuned.

Very nice blade Uncle Bill,
That scabbard's really neat. It looks to be very nice work all around. That handle's great, excellent scrollwork. I think I like the skinnier blade on the first one though.

Wouldn't have gone to a certain lawyer whose first question to his clients is: "How much money do you have, and do you have any motorcycles, guns, or khukuries you can sell to get more?"

Actually, we are happy to accept motorcycles, automobiles, boats, guns, knives or gold and silver jewelry or bullion. Service is our middle name (as in "Daddy took the heifer to get her serviced").

If we could get a two-handed grip (maybe a little less "wasp-waisted"?), I'd have to get one.

I like the handle on this one better and but my preference would be steel without the engraving and the blade off the other one.
I hate the smell brass leaves on my hands.
The 27" Bura made Banspati I have is a very beautiful execution of many arts, but I'm glad I don't have to handle it much because of the brass handles.
Silver might work, but I doubt I could afford the increase in price that would bring.

I think it looks fantastic! This is great that HI is expanding out to produce other weapons of Nepal/India. Definitely another for my must-have list...
