I probably already know the answer I will get here, but let me start off by saying I have purchased 2 knives from HI, Yes, 2 in two weeks.

HOWEVER, prior to becoming aquainted w/ HI I bought a knife from Khukri House, namely the unfinished Jugle panawal version which seems built like HI'S CAK.

I have not recieved this yet as I picked the economy shipping & it appears this will take a week or so yet.

Not really concerned w/ the cost as we all know which is cheaper, just curious about the construction & steel. Once again, I bought 2 & will probably by more from HI because I like the way they do business.

Just looking for an honest opinion & one of those 18" AK boomerangs I saw a few days back...

I have a Bahadur from them. It's a good khuk. I don't think as nice as what HI puts out but you could do a lot worse. Mine gets a lot of use and abuse. It's not a traditional khuk, but it does what I want it to.

Don't know about that. That one looks pretty nice. All I have bought have been for use. If I was buying for looks, the last HI would have gone back. Blade was good but the handle is a little funky.

Hi frigid,
Just out of reference curiousity, what 2 khukris have you bought? Would love to see some pics of the knives in action.
Thanks

I have to figure out how to post pic's. I'm a little behind in the technical area. I got an 18" Ang Khola w/ wood handle & an 18" Sirupati w/ horn. Both have nice balance (like the AK better). I blued the blade on the AK w/ brownells oxpho blue & it came out quite nice. I burnish it w/ a dremel & the dremel polishing paste(not sure what it is.), then heat the blade in the bottom of my shop's oil furnace (just this side of hot to the touch) then hit it w/ the oxpho blue, burnish with steel wool & repeat a couple times. Then coat w/ break free & let sit. Comes out w/ a psudo color case hardened look. I like it, your mileage may vary.

Frigid, the best place to get a boomerang is still Australia.:p ;)
Just funnin with you.;) :D

To help you out with the pics: the first thing is do you have a digital camera and if not do you have a scanner so that you can scan pics to your hard drive?
Either way the first step is to get the pics on your hard drive and then upload them to one of the image hosting outfits like Photobucket or Shutterfly just to name a couple.
Once your pics are uploaded there will be a few boxes of code that you can copy and then post a link here
that will be between [IMG} http.www. photobucket. com [/IMG} like this but with both of the brackets being the [---] and with no spaces.
One box of code at your image host site will be for posting images, another one for email and such, can't recall what they all are for.:o

frigid,
They sound real nice. I often considered attempting to get that case hardened look on my 17" WW II as I am working on subduing it. I too am a bit behind on the pic posting. I finally got my wife her new camera and the computer won't support it, so a better computer is next on the long list.

Yvsa,
Thanks for the pic posting information. I will need it soon.

You're mighty welcome Mark. :D

As to your computer not supporting your camera, may I ask why not?
Unless it's grossly underpowered on RAM I don't understand why it wouldn't?
Have you downloaded the CD you got with your camera into your computer or is that what your computer won't accept?

Yvsa,
The camera is the Traveler 10.1 megapixel and since the last hard drive crash we've been using our older HP Pavilion which is running Win98. It says the min reguirements are Win2000 or XP. In my el cheapo zeal to snap up a good buy in an after holiday sale I missed that important item. The kids and Holly have been giving me plenty of space to go and get a better computer, I believe my times run out. I have downloaded Photo Explorer 8.0, Photo Express 5.0 and Cool 360 SE from the included CD to see if it would work, but no joy on that. I am beholden to so many fine folks here for ideas about every aspect of blade and wood care and feeding, I am very close to getting pics up. Thanks for the help.

Be Well in this crazy cold winter,

I think there is a kind of rule that we dont discuss other company khukuris in the HI forum: those threads need to happen in the cantina...

You're probably right Danny. Ted can move it for us I think if it's a problem. I'll just echo what iL Bruche said. Good solid performers, but not as overbuilt as most HI's IMO. The knife is good, but the sheath that comes with the Bahadur is pretty sad. I'd like to have a nicer one made someday.

Frigid, the 2 HI's you got sound very nice. 2 different models, both 18", one in wood and one in horn. You made some good choices there, and can decide what works best for you.

The first HI I bought 4 years ago was a 21" Chitlangi in satisal, and it is still the sweetest, best balancing, baddest blade I have. It's not just the model, as I've owned several Chitlangis, it's that one knife. I was amazingly lucky to get it, or maybe it was just meant to come to me!? :D

I should be getting th knife from KH this week. I will poost impressions as soon as I get it. HI is still first coice based on thier business practices & faster than the speed of light shipping.

Will post an honest review. Mod's feel free to move thisif you don't think it fits here. So far though there is a pretty fair amount of HI content.

AND..... Who in the heck is on the computer so early in the am to snag that last Ganga Ram. I will buy something off of the deal of the day just to say I did. Damn near impossible to beat you guys.
