Amazing and influential guitarist Link Wray is dead. He lived a relatively long life, especially by rock and roll standards, but it still saddens me. I remember the first time one of my friends put on a Link Wray and the Raymen album for me to listen to and how blown away I was. If you've never heard of him, you have certainly listened to music by people that had and were influenced or inspired by his style.

This blog has links to a few MP3s.

Thanks for the music Link!

And we lost Gatemouth Brown earlier this year too. Two of the originators whose influence extends to those who never heard them, whether those people realize it or not. Link had a great tone too.

I have never heard of him. Did he do something special for the world? Did he do anything more than a regular man?

I don't know anything about his life, just his guitar playing. that's like asking if Bo Randall did something special for the world.

If you watch TV,go to the movies or listen to music, you will here his influences.

He was a great player. I first heard him on an old Robert Gordon record... In fact, a Robert Gordon record is the first place I ever heard Danny Gatton (RIP) as well. Sad...
