I was saddened to read in the paper that Bart the Bear died of cancer. Bart, you may recall was the Kodiak brown that stared along with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin in the Edge. The movie was great with lots of knife survival content. Bart was a beautiful animal and was in many movies and television for more than 20 years. I will miss him.

I too am saddened by this. Bart was also in The Bear, a very good movie, and The Great Outdoors, a very funny movie. My wife and I have been big fans of his for a long time. He shall be missed.

I too am saddened by Barts passing. I talked to Lynne and Doug a few months back and they sent me some photos of Bart and Doug playing and a photo of Doug standing along side of Bart.
Bart was a majestic creature and he will certainly be missed by my wife and I. We were planning a trip for next year to visit him.

I'm also sorry to hear of his passing, thanks for letting us know Greg. I was also sorry to find out that IMDb (Internet Movie Database) doesn't list Bart the Bear in the credits of either The Edge or the Bear, I was trying to find all of Bart's screen credits, no luck.

He was a magnificiant animal, my wife was surprised that an animal gets cancer as well. She even sounded hurt when I told her the news.

Thanks for the info Greg! Bart truly was a magnificent animal! And the Edge one of my favorite movies, and my favorite line.

Let us not forget his memorable appearance on the Academy Awards Ceremony a few years back. He was supposed to deliver the envelope to Mike Meyers. But Doug would up handing it over.

As it was said before, he was a magnificant creature. Rest in Peace, Bart.

Bart was a great actor. Scared the heck out of me in The Edge. May he HIP (hibernate in peace).
