Sad news for any Fred-heads...

You Fred-heads know who you are... for the uninformed, a Fred-head is an ardent follower/fan of Fred Eaglesmith. If you don't know his music, you owe it to yourself to get some.

Anyways, unsubstantiated news from a very reliable source... Fred's long time right-hand man in the band, Willie P. Bennett has died. Since Willie had a heart attack last fall, I'm presuming another was the cause. I feel fortunate to have seen dozens of shows with Fred and Willy, and sad that I never will again. RIP Willie.

It's confirmed in the "news" section of their website. Very sad news, considering the quality of the band's music. I grew up in NC, that kind of music has a special place in my heart.

I'll be ordering a couple of their albums come payday.

Pity. While not a "Fred Head" as such, I enjoy his stuff.
