Sad news: Passing of a shop Cat.

I am writing this because shared pain is lessened, and today isn't going very well. I lost my shop forman Emerson this morning. He got hit by a car.
As cats go, he was an exceptional individual. In the short time he spent with us, I have never had a bad thing to say about him. He was affable, playful, and didn't have a contentious bone in his body. He would always come when you called and loved to be petted or played with, and slept on my chest at night. He always seemed happy with whatever was going on, and I have never met a more content animal in my life. In short, he taught me alot about how to enjoy life.
He was a kitten really, only being about 9 months old. He had enormous paws and was on his way to becoming a champion mouser. He loved to "help" me in the shop, and was particularly fond of "assisting me" with stiching my sheaths.
I shall miss him greatly.
Ed

Sorry to here about that. There is nothing like the help that a cat or kitten can give you when you try to get something done. Remember what he taught you, I know I have learned a thing or two from my cats. Good luck. Mark

My sympathies to you, Ed. I know how you feel. We lost our little schnauzer, Otto, to diabetes last summer. Even though he was a miserable, stubborn, obnoxious little sh*t, I miss him terribly. Sometimes I can still hear him barking as I drive in.

Hey Ed... better get yourself another kitty!

That's very sad news Ed, I'm sorry for your loss. 9 months is way too short, but is sounds like he gave and received a lot of love in that time.

I know every bit of what you are going through. It happened to us about a year ago. I still miss ours almost every day. After some months had passed we got another and I have found myself to be overly protective because of the pain I know there is in loosing one.

This brings tears to my eyes. Little kitties are not armed to understand cars, and they too often don't get a chance to learn the right way. I've had that happen to me several times, and it's broken my heart every time.

There is a cure though: another kitten!

My condolences on your loss. We lost two in the not too distant past, and it still bothers me if I think about it, so I know how you feel.

We just got another stray to raise. That makes five we've got now.

Give it a week, and get another one. I doubt if you will find a polydactyl(extra toe on each front paw) cat like you had, but they are all great. :)

There's not much in the world that can make you smile like a kitten. They're so full of playful exuberance. Real sorry to hear of your loss.

My thanks to All for the kind words. It really helps. We will probably be getting another kitten in the not too distant future. We were adopted (read ambushed) by a little black 6 week old kitten in the road last Aug. The two older cats wanted nothing to do with her. Thats why we got Emerson, to give her someone to grow up with. They were best buddies. Now she's on her own again.
I'm sure there's one out there that will find us, and I would love it if he is as cool as Emerson was, but my hopes are not high. He will be a hard act to follow...... In the mean time, life goes on.
Thanks again,
Ed

Ed,
I'm sorry to hear about Emerson. It's not a nice way to lose a buddy. I got tired of comming home from work and looking for my cats on the side of the road, so now we keep them inside. The last straw was when my cat didn't come home for three days and I finaly found him up in a tree with cyote tracks all in the mud under it! I don't think he really minds staying in anymore.
