Not sure if it is appropriate for this forum but I read this morning about the sad news of the apparent death of Mr Purna Darnal, owner of Great Gurkha Khukuri ( GGK ) . He is one of the better known Khukuri and blade manufacturers in Nepal and Ive no doubt there are many on this forum who actually own at least one of his Khukuri knives , I know I do . Anyway can someone else confirm this news . RIP Purna

Yes- the team found out about this on friday night. He was in a car crash and did not survive.
Here's a local news story with more details- but it is a bit grizzly so be warned.
It's pretty horrible stuff- he has been a significant figure in the industry and a unique voice for such a long time. He'd also been recently finding new success making custom one off sword and more esoteric projects in the sword forums.
We'll be doing a post about it once the team have sent me through the sentiments they wish to share.
For the timebeing though, a grave reminder to take care on the roads and push for governmental change that helps reduce risks.. There's so many lives impacted through the road toll and so many of these incidents are preventable.
