With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment it is worth reflecting on a death last week that almost went unnoticed.
Larry La Prise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey," died peacefully at age 93.
The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

And what if, when he's standing in front of the Pearly Gates, that St. Peter tells him that yes, indeed, "that's what it's all about".

Unfortunately, he died impoverished having lost millions to royalty-skirting internet file sharing downloads.

I believe Larry Leprise actually died in 1996 at age 83 but the joke, as well as the song is still valid and known even here in Mexico, my one year old niece recognizes it and tries the moves, she just learned to turn herself around.

Luis

Trivia question: Anyone remember which X-Files episode prominently featured this song? For bonus points, what famous author wrote the episode?

Geek. :p :D

Yes, that's it. Pretty memorable episode. This fisherman hauls up a doll out of the ocean and gives it to his kid. The doll turns out to be possessed. Every time it wants someone whacked, the record player turns on, and that song plays.
