I got word this morning that Sher (The Tiger) Kami and Get (Changa) Kami
have left the HI shop in Nepal and moved on to Arab country.

I have done my best to help the Kamis and their families with steady work
and schools for their children, but, sooner or later, they leave and go
somewhere else where the work seems easier.

Many of you have special orders for knives pending and I am sad to tell you
that there will be some delay because we have less Kamis working in the shop right now.
I will do my best to get your orders completed and shipped to me.

Thank you all for your patience and support for HI and the Kamis. I will keep
all of you with orders pending updated on the progress of your knives.

Sad news indeed. At least Bura kami is still there and can hopefully pass his knowledge on and keep the tradition going.

Thankful to you, Yangdu, for all that you are doing on both ends of HI to keep things running smoothly.

Sher the Tiger was my favorite. I'm going to miss him.

Same. Two of my three kukris are by him. I love how his kuks tend to be thicker and overbuilt. Also the hardened "sweet spot" seems to be larger on them. I've also heard great stuff aboutGet's work as well, though I have no personal experience...

That all said, it's sad to see HI lose such talented hands. We should be happy for them though and support their choices :)

Well said killa concept. Another step on their journeys.

I also have some of Sher's work and none of Get's. Sher can make a mighty fine khukuri.

Wow; these are two of the three craftsmen whose work I own! I'm beginning to appreciate my undeserved luck, more and more.

Very Sad. Sher indeed was a very good Kami. His work will be missed. Yangdu, i am in UAE, if they happen to be around here, and need help, I will be glad to do it.

The very best of Fortune to Sher, one of my all time favorite craftsmen. My Bhutan sword and Giant Kumar Karda are now just that much more irreplacable.
The same Good Luck to Get, may his journey be long, happy and rewarding.
:(:)

This is sad news indeed. I wish them well and I know that HI will attract new and talented kamis soon.

Well the best of luck to them, and of course the best of luck to HI to find some new Kami's and for the old Kami's to keep making the goodies we love!

Man that's a bummer. Sher's the one responsible for my adoration of the Chitlangi.

I have two of them made by Sher. I'll cherish them even more now.

:(

Thank you Yangdu for the update; their does make for production delays and the loss of talented and skilled Kami's but HI has faced similar situations before and got through them.

I hope Sher and Get are safe on their travels and maybe one day will return to HI.

Wow. Sher is surprising, I thought he'd be a long-timer.

I guess this is an opportunity to get some new blood in the mix.

I just remembered: didn't Sher's brother also work for HI previously? If so, is Sher going to the same place? If so, then this becomes a lot less surprising: maybe his family needs him right now.

(Of course, I could just as easily be completely wrong; it won't be the first time.)
