SAD STORY.........maybe ?

I am a little confused.

Is the economy a lot worse than what I thought ?

I have collected for 30 years or so........lots of brands........lots of one of my favorite brands....(I'll let you guess). :p

I have started trying to recoup some of my investment on a world wide web site and I have been really saddened by what I have seen.

Example: I just put up a mint knife made in SEKI.......it was a beauty.........leather handles etc............no longer can you find this knife hardly at all.

I started it out at under 20 bucks......(no reserve).......no bites at all for three days. Not one bid.......

Same story with several other models and brands.

What gives ? Is it that bad out there that you can not sell a discontinued SEKI model in mint condition for under 20 ?

This is a discussion topic and not a sales ad by the way... ;)

Robbie Roberson. :D

When did you put it up exactly? Maybe it's a temporary lull -- the weekend, the storm -- sometimes The Right Buyer is busy now and hasn't had a chance to see it.

I concur, personally I'm waiting for my tax refund so I can get a new knife. This is a one time buy for myself until I graduate from the Police Academy, sort of a self "pat on the back." :D

OMG, congratulations! Yeah, that's definitely worthy of a present to yourself. That's great news.

As for the original question, I'll spare you the whine, but yeah, things are pretty bad all over right now.

Esav and others thanks for the reply. They all went off around 9 pm tonight.

I did take a few off before because they had no bids even at the low price I started..........not even many watchers.......maybe 2 and about 12 hits to look at them.

I just made an ark and put all my knives in it and sent it out to sea.........:p

I appreciate the feed back. I think the super bowl might have had a big influence today/tonight.

This has been a pretty emotional thing for me any way........even harder when I know these knives are wanted and would so be enjoyed.

It's honestly not the money, it never has been.

It just sat there for several days and no one bid on it.....

I just figured things must be worse than I realized.

I will probably just keep them for a while.

Appreciate the offer..........this made me realize just how much I liked my knives. :o

bingo!

"...no bites at all for three days. Not one bid..."

knives are never quite top spot on most people's shopping list anyway, least of all in a downturn.
the last depression saw the growth and demand for underground entertainment.
hmm...

If you think the economy is bad now...just wait.
It will get worse.

If you are selling on eBay, often most of the bidding happens in the last few minutes of the auction.

I found that weekends are a bad time to list items. eBay is most active at the begining of the week. for years all my auctions/sales would start on sunday evening and end on friday evening. I stayed away from weekends.

I have not even logged onto ebay in a couple years. I was very active. Burnt out on auctions.

^ agreed.
I have shopped ebay but am not a big fan of it. I would rather buy from someone on a forum who is a dedicated member to that forum. Like I would rather buy a knife from here or a flashlight from candlepower.
