I'm unsure what Forum this belongs in, so here goes; What was Saddam Hussain carrying for a sidearm when he was dug out of the Spiderhole?

Yes, and that pistol is now mounted on a plaque and hangs on the wall in a small room which adjoins the Oval Office and is essentially the President's working office (ever notice how the most powerful man in the world's desk in always clean? What's his secret? He's got another desk in the other room, that's his secret.) By convention, that room (As I recall, it's called the Library) is rarely mentioned and never photographed.

The pistol that Hussein had when he was captured was in fact a Browning Hi-Power. That was his usual EDC sidearm. As somebody else previously stated, it was ultimately given to President Bush, who put it on display in the Oval Office.

I think it's great Bush has the pistol--kind of like a general getting the surrendered sword of the man he defeated.

[rant] But--I sure wish everyone were as able to possess firearms in DC. Our nation's capitol is one of the least democratic places in the country. I guess if you're LEO, military, or connected enough to get declared a US Marshal (Orrin Hatch--no offense to him, it's the local DC politicians who are defective/the problem). ALL citizens should possess the means of their own self-defense, not just a privileged class. [/rant]

There, I feel better--I think. ;)

DC doesn't even have Senators or a voting representative in the House. Their license plates have the slogan "Taxation Without Representation" in protest of their lack of voting rep's in Congress. They do have a non-voting rep in the House who can sit on committees and participate in debates, etc.

yeah yeah yeah, Mycroftt. that's because the people you DO vote for are such a bunch of clowns. Remember Marion Berry? Hell, if the country allows you to elect national politicians, you will probably elect some real jerk.

Not like us, in Massachussetts. :D
