Today I had a notification from apple software update that a new version of Safari (mac's web browser) was available for my computer. I installed it, just out of curiosity, but I haven't run it. Has anyone else installed it? Who's going to make the switch?

Downloaded it, tried it, hated it, removed it.

It was just okay for me. It would be hard to pull me away from firefox.

I like it. I could be mistaken but it seems a little faster than Firefox. Don't get me wrong, I love my Firefox, and have since it was called "Phoenix 0.2," but Safari's got some good stuff going for it. I enjoy three features in Safari that Firefox could really use -- a better find function, smart tabs and resizable text fields.

For the tabs, the text truncates smartly -- if you have a lot of tabs open that start with the same name but end with something different it smartly trims off the first bit so each tab has a unique name.

The other two features are explained and illustrated on their site, here: http://www.apple.com/safari/

The private browsing feature is also excellent when you don't want others to know what you've been... err, viewing.

I use it and enjoy it greatly. It seems to be noticeably faster than Firefox and is easier on my eyes. It functions very similiar to Firefox and the Private browsing is indeed handy.

i still use firefox the most but i downloaded safari a couple of months ago and it works well. I'm running xp and as bad as i hate to say it safari is noticeably faster on my machine. try it for a while and if you don't like it dump it.
