I'm looking for a little push knife orientented towards self defense that can easily be concealed. This is the only one that i have found and would like to know if anyone here has one and if they like it. Also if you could give me some different methods of carrying it concealed such as around the neck, belt etc...
I have been looking at this knife for a while and just think it would be interesting to own and the only real reason i can come up with that it will be good at is self defense. If their are any other benefits of this style knife i would love to be informed. Thank You.

I've had several II's and III's, and if you had to go with one or the other, the three is more easily concealed. BUT.....I have a III that I got in 2000, that has the polished blade, and kydex sheath. THe knife draws easier from this sheath than the newer versions with the satin blade and SECUREX or CONCEALEX sheath. I've had the entire sheath pull from my waistband when drawing the newer knives, so you may want to look for the older versions.

I carried mine on my strong side, in waist band, behind my hip. It was the most comfortable for me, unless I was wearing a heavy jacket. I found the III to be easier to conceal and offered a lower profile. The blade on the II is longer, and is double edged, something to keep in mind when drawing the knife close to your body.

First and foremost though, you should check your laws where you live, because a push dagger can be considered "dirk dagger or stiletto" by the courts and may not be legal where you live.

I have the Safekeeper 2,sweet little knife.I don't carry it much because of the law here in Ohio.

Thanks for the advice, Ill check my local laws first and if I'm able to I'll probbly get myself the safe keeper III. Thanks.

If you can, see if you can find an older III, the sheath is better. I've had three of the newer versions, 2 II's and a III, and every one, the sheath pulled out of my pants when I drew the knife. They are made of concealex or securex or something. The older ones are kydex I believe.

As far as I know the "older" ones used the same securex/concealex sheaths. The difference is in the blade steel. The older series used AUS-8A which was polished so there is less resistance to the draw and it's a better steel. I have an older III and last year I bought my brother a new III in satin finished 420 steel. The new ones ok but the older ones are much nicer.

The SKIII isn't a bad knife. For my pushdagger money though I think that the Benchmade 175 CBK is much better.

I agree that the Benchmade 175 is a better weapon. VERY slick, and a nice attachment system which can be changed to a Tek-lok if you like.

Wow I love that benchmade 175!!...Thats why its in a box with my address on it as we speak! Thank you for all your information and for lowering my bank account! :D

Mercworx does a push dagger they call the Seraphym. I would have liked one, but the expense was too high for a blade I know is generally illegal carry. Then the Benchmade came along with a similar size and grind. :)

The Benchmade has a very simple handle, not particularly comfortable, but it cord-wraps easily, and is a great base for customizing with your own scales.

Hi Esav,

Do you know where I could purchase a Cold Steel Safekeeper III, or one of its single-edged predecessors (i.e., by Cold Steel)? Any help would be much appreciated. By the way, ani lomed ivrit!

What about the urban pal ?
You say you like the safekeeper 3 but it's really only good for self defense, well the urban pall is basically a smaller version with a smaller and serrated more utilitarian blade.

 Very "vintage" 12 yo thread . If I wanted a push knife , I'd first consider the Cold Steel Drop Forged version .

NOT my favorite CS video :

Damn, how did he even find this thread ?

That's why I hate when someone necro's a thread
I don't and shouldn't have to pay attention to the age of a thread, then I end up posting in a dusty old thread.

I'm just confused by the out of date commentary until I finally notice how old the thread is ! ;)
