Safe Maker II - REALLY dull edges

I just bought a safe maker 2 push dagger and was really excited about it. The problem is that while it is technically double edged, neither edge is sharp at all. It's a stabbing weapon, sure but I'm pretty upset. I couldn't get it to cut anything and then tried a $30 folding knife I use at work and it shredded everything. Is this common that I should have to sharpen a knife I paid $60 for? I don't get it.

I got a Safe Keeper 2 for Christmas and I cut myself just by touching it. Its the sharpest knife I own. I didnt buy it directly from Cold Steel either. The only thing is it doesnt really have a pointy tip but thats ok.
