Safe Queen to User

I bought this one quite a few years ago from the shop, I bought it to use but it has a perfect CM finish with only beautiful INFI dimples and it sat in the safe until this past weekend. I have come to the conclusion that some day my safe queens will be sold and my users will be passed along to my kids & grandkids, (hopefully while I’m still kicking) and I wanted this one to be one of them!
The Son of Badger had a pretty easy weekend and works well for many tasks, I especially liked it’s ability to clear finger thick limbs with just a swipe while clearing limbs for casting “lanes” down at the creek while fishing. Hopefully we will have many memorable years of use together

I miss the Competition Finish of old with all the dimples and imperfections here and there, but it seems we might not see anymore like this. The new flavor of Competition Finish appears to be surface ground on the flats, possibly prior to heat treat. The grinds are also very clean now with little to no gremlins to be found, old comp finish had them here and there for sure. I think all these marks really added character, I miss it.

Funny enough, I actually brought back an identical specimen of SOB as yours from Blade Show 2014 (My First & Only) where these were sold originally (prior to the Ganza where they were also offered). Same exact Red & Black G-10 combo, but mine had some sort of birth mark on the grind somewhere so it got a bit more love on the primary grind from whoever was finishing the knife so it was a bit more shiny and smoove.

I only shaved a few fuzz sticks with it and ultimately passed it on, but it was a pretty awesome little belt knife for sure. I was really into the No Choil Boss Jack's at the time, so I kept thinking about how I wanted it to have just a bit more blade length and straight edge. Might have even posted a thing or two here about that feeling and the HOG Badger soon followed, to my amazement, with a blade length of 6" like the ole' BJ.... :D:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

CONGRATS ON AN EPIC BLADE TO PASS DOWN! BADGERS RULE!

I agree badgers rule!
My first Busse was an A2 SHBA way back!
Been a Badger fan ever since, I have the SHBA, CGBATAC and the SOB no finer belt knife that is usable

Nice!
How do you like the brick pattern grip?
I like the size of the grip, it fits my hand perfectly! I don’t like the looks of the brick pattern. I’m on the edge wether it would be worth sanding it down to remove the brick pattern.

My 1st Busse was SOB Satin with Black Canvas...
Been drooling over a few on the inner webs lately, may end up with a .16 thick Prototype...
