Do you think your shoe could take an axe whack like this?

I think my steel toed work boots would be OK. A better plan would be not to chop your feet.

I hope you're all right.

In a way your right not to accept the question on the face of it Sp. Perched on a stack of logs, wooden shoes don't offer a lot of stability but they do make an extra big target, or rather they can get in the way. No damage all the way around - shoes can take abuse, axe, well, no problem there, and my toes are still all intact. Thanks for inquiring. Still, I won't be trading them in for anything else.

I see more to paying attention to where the axe will go if it glances off, or goes through what you are chopping.

I've never really had a situation that I was worried about my feet or toes. I'm WAY more worried about my ankles and calfs and lower legs.
Shoot, there have been times I've had khukris and hatchets unexpectedly glance off and come near my knee. It scared me so bad that I took a good long break and think about what I did wrong.

Smack your knee or inner thigh good and sever an artery, or destroy your leg, and you are done.
Especially if you are out in the middle of nowhere like I was.

But toes? I know people recommend steel toed boots for this stuff, and factory assembly lines, for good reason.
I guess I haven't thought that much about them. I'd rather have good shoes that FIT me right and don't leave my back sore from wearing them.
