Today I was reminded about how GI's in WWII used the condoms they were given to cover their rifle barrel to keep dirt and debris out. This got me thinking about what else they could be used for. They are light, compact and i normally have one in my wallet so i could see it getting used in a survival situation as i take stock of everything I have on me. It wouldn't be the first thing I would want to collect and drink water from but life or death i wouldn't think twice about it. I could also use it as elastic to secure something, also if i get lost with the old lady we might need to generate somebody heat;).

So am I wacko or what else could you guess think to use some trojans for in a survival situation, I know alot of you got them in your wallet.

Non-lubricated condoms are great for water collection, and waterproofing matches (if you tie the top).

They prevent most STDs. Except crabs, you'll get crabs even if you wear one.

Balloons and condoms are hard to fill with a dripping water source. Try reynold's oven bags or microwaveable bags as they are more resistant to heat.

Remember, condoms used for water purification are filled by quickly moving them through a deep water source and filling them up with centrifugal force. They aren't perfect but work in some situations.

according to "Survival is a dying art", you can inflate two and tie them together for a flotation device for water crossings.

They are a good way to store any items you need kept dry including tinder.

Those are some big damn jimmy hats

Blowen up and tied together they could be suspended from a tree to attract attention.
Used to make a sling shot.
Tourniquet for fingers,
or to hold a dressing in place.
sterile covers for fingers.
lashings
fishing floats.
springs for trap triggers.
shoe laces.
grips on slippery handles
