safer fingers-halfstop slipjoint or liner lock

I've never worried about either, but I'm probably a little more comfortable with the liner lock. Especially if it has a finger choil.

The only advantage I see the the slippie is that you can feel when it's about to close, which you can't with a liner lock failure.

I'm comfortable with either. Generally, I prefer slipjoints, and among slipjoints, I'd prefer to have a half stop. It's entirely possible to have both, and neither is a replacement for the other, so I'm not sure what you may be getting at.

I prefer the liner lock, and of course the fixed blade with finger guard, which state legislators here, in their 'wisdom,' have banned, is safest of all.
