Can some of you experienced welders give me some clues on buying safety equipment? I need a helmet and gloves and an apron, what do I look for, and, maybe more importantly, what should I avoid?
The gloves and apron will do duty at the forge too, as soon as that's done. I'd like to get a full face shield while I'm at it.

Also, anyplace online with good values, or just drive to the local supplier?

Thanks!

ok, i havent hit the welding rods since i was 10, and i wasnt doin it on my own but we used to have one really nice mask, it was battery ooperated so incase something happend, like the spark light was MEGA BIG like an explosion, or a surge, whatever its called, this thing kicks in instantly protecting your eyes!!

i just wear old ****** clothes, like some thick jeans, or get a leather apron, or make one,
