I just thought I'd pass this along for what it's worth.

A friend just got over a 5-6 week bout of salmonella poisoning.

It was discovered that the likely source of the salmonella was a canteloupe that was cut without washing it first. The strain of salmonella was from a corn snake so, he explained that somebody probably handled a corn snake then handled the canteloupe. I guess it could also be that simply, a corn snake pooped on the canteloupe.

The doctor quarantined him to his house for a month because it is highly contagious and aside from that, the sickness is not something you would wish on anybody.

So, wash them canteloupes.

"Corn! When did I eat corn?!";):D
