safety rattels on citadel

my buddie whos really smart with knives and works at a knife store said that on the earlyer runs of the citadel when factory fresh spyderco used a smal dab of grease on ethier parallel side of the lock slider to dampen the lateral movement of the part is this right?

Mine is an 83mm, purchased last year but made in early 2009. It doesn't rattle. As for the other, I can't say for sure but it sounds like typical knife shop employee BS to me. I'd sooner imagine that, if Spyderco did use grease, it was for the usual purpose, as a lubricant.
 
I do not think you can send the knife back unless you are active military or LEO.
 
Mine is loose in its moorings, just slides back and forth. Spyderco wont accept returns but you may be able to do it through a dealer, what I was told. I havent bothered to take it further. Doesnt really bother me overly much.

ya there are no dealer of autos where im from so ethier i fix myself or learn to live with it:p i have heard alot of people have had this problem...

Correct. There are several dealers who you can send it to, they will then send it to Spyderco, have it retuned to them and then forwarded to the owner. BladeHQ (a member of BF) has offered this service before.
There usually is a service charge to cover handling and postage.

Even sending to a US dealer from Canada could be a problem. I'm not familiar with the process, but I'd guess with customs and all, its probably not a viable alternative.
