Hi guys,
A while ago there was a sticky about safety tips, does anyone know where to find it?
I tried a search but did not find that particular thread.
thanks,

Mike

Along with the saftey tips sticky we should have an "injury of the week thread". I could have posted a few pics myself over the last few months. The injury of the week thread would add a visual aspect to the saftey tips.

Maybe we should get together and compare scars. I have collected a few beauties in my 47 years.:D Most of them have "stupid mistake" written all over them!

Mike

i second this cause, cause theres nothing like a picture to drive a point home, while entertaining us with anothers dumb mistake :)

Bad luck, Dude. Not good to even talk about it.

Fitzo, you beauty! What would I do without you?:D
That is the one. Thanks buddy.;)
How did you get hold of it?

Mike

BadKarma05, I see you are 18 yrs old. You are in the high risk category. Young men are NOT indestructable, you are NOT bulletproof and you bleed just like the older guys. Nothing nasty intended.
Heed the warnings of the older knifemakers, that is how a young maker can become an old maker.:D
Right, off the soapbox I get......

I still have some great scars though.:D:D :D

Take care,

Mike

You're welcome, Mike! :)

I don't know if there are differences in the search capabilites of a paid membership or not. I chose "Advanced Search" and put "Safety" as "Title only" and specified Shoptalk and it was on the first page of hits just partway down the list.

I'm glad it was the thread you sought! :)

Fitzo, spare me the pic of the 10" scars please.:D
There is a limit to sharing. I do not even want to know how how a knifemaker gets scars there anyway. You are supposed to face the grinder.:D :D
If it becomes a pain in the ass then you are doing something wrong.

Mike

Dang, I was afraid someone saw that in the 30 seconds before I edited it back out! :o

My hips went south early. I've had prostheses 10 years now. Genetic problem. That's all I'll belabor you with....:)

No problem Fitzo, the most interesting scars are the ones we cannot see. Sorry I was too quick to pounce on your reply.

I hope the surgery helped.

Mike.

Oh, man, don't be sorry! I invited the joking and don't mind a bit.... :)

While not like the original equipment, they are much better than what the old stuff had become. I wish I could share the look on the surgeons face when I asked him if I could have the bone to make a handle out of. ;) He stammered for a moment and then just said sternly, "That's not allowed." Later, when I asked him if he'd sign the scar so I get the sig tattooed in, he got an even wierder expression. :D Gotta be able to laff at this doodoo!!

Seems like doctors are too uptight!
Imagine a knife with the selling point being "handle material is bone from Fitzo's ass." :D
I have heard about putting heart and soul into a knife but this would be special......:D :D

Mike

Just think, I could have been quite accurate calling it one of my "halfassed" pieces of work! ;)
