These plastic bottles w/built-in filtering system (in 1 liter and .5 liter sizes) have been out for a while now. They appear to be the best of their kind.

Anyone have experience with these? Good, bad? Virtues, problems?

I've seen those in various advertisements, and local gun shows.

They usually advertise "removes 99% of contaminants". Even at "99.9%", that still leaves enough Giardia to make you regret not using something a bit more efficient.

I've avoiding buying one of those, for that reason.

So nobody’s used it yet?

Just to clarify: there have been several previous bottle-style purifiers, all of which are more or less junk. But this one made by SafeWater Anywhere is pretty universally regarded as in a class of its own. It’s been tested by respected organizations and is used/praised by equally reputable groups and individuals (e.g., Field & Stream rates it “best of the best”). In fact, its been rated higher than many of the most reliable pump models. (FWIW, it’s advertised as “99.99% effective.”)

So I trust its filtering abilities. (Filtering giardia, BTW, is pretty simple; even the cheapest systems effectively screen it.) I’m primarily wondering about problems after prolonged use such as clogging, durability/fragility, or other unforeseen/unanticipated concerns.

Anyone?
