Saftey Pins?

OK, this may be kind picky of me, but lately it seems that all the safety pins I come across are not worth a $hite. Total garbage from China or some such place. The last few packs I bought were so poorly made that most did not even open or close properly. While not the most important item to EDC, I would like to pack half a dozen or so that are solid enough to do what safety pins are supposed to do without falling apart or bending out of shape. So: anybody know if such still exist?

I'm not sure they do. Hopefully someone will know. On the same subject, a really nice sewing needle would be great as well. The ones I've had are pretty crappy.

I have some that are medical grade. They seem to have better metal and tempering, better construction in general. I'm not sure where you would find them. Mine were included in a military aviation first aid box. The old kind with the canvas bag that attached to the aircraft interior and had a removable gasketed metal box.

Found some milsurp on ebay just now.

I have some great heavy duty sewing needles made for sewing leather. Got them a while back and forgot the source. If you like, e-mail me your mailing address and I'll send you one.

I usually have a safety pin on my keyring. Well not really. Its actually a diaper pin. when I was in high school, my big sister found a diaper pin with a ducky on it. Gave it to me with some wise-a$$ remark about me needing it for my diapers. So being a good sport, I put it on my key ring. I actually found it very handy to pick out splinters and rescued some friends untimely wardrobe malfunctions. I usually sharpen them up with some 600 or 800 grit sand paper.

I had a regular safety pin on my key ring for a while, but it was a pain in the axe. Diaper pins have a better safety record in my back pocket.

I don't really have any good suggestions. But I did notice that the last pack I bought was terrible. Not one out of fifty were even straight.
