Sage fits my needs better, I like smaller classier looking knives now. But from shopping around the sage costs more than the PM2:confused:. Can't pull the trigger on the sage knowing that. Taiwan and smaller piece of s30v it should be cheaper right :p? I bet if I get the pm2 I'll eventually realize it's too big for my needs and put it on the chopping block.

You're making several false assumptions:
1) There's no reason why a knife from Taiwan should inherently cost less than one from Golden Colorado USA Earth. Exchange rates, shipping costs, etc.
2) Taiwan is not mainland China. For that matter, Seki City today is not post-WW2 Japan.
3) The size of the knifes has little to do with cost in this narrow size range. Maybe if you're comparing a 2" knife to a 3' sword.

Don't forget the carbon fiber scales on the sage. More expensive than g10. And a small percentage of the sage goes to alzheimer's research.

Maybe I'm just too picky a shopper. If you laid out the sage and the pm2 on the table and told me to pick one I'd pick the sage. If you showed me just a sage with a $120 price tag, I'd probably think it was an okay price and a nice knife.

The K2 is lower priced than the Slysz Bowie.

Don't try and make sense of it. This isn't like buying produce by net weight at the grocery store.

If you're patient and quick, you could snag a Sage 1 off the Exchange. They pop up occasionally for at or under $100.

i have both these knifes,i think you would be better off owning the native 5/G10/S35VN as its classier and smaller folder! and about in the same price range) as the others two,and you would be right to think the sage 1 would be little cheaper for its size!or you can take a look on for sales on this forum and find a deal on sage 1)i have a new one if you like!PM me hear, but that native is killer i think, good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. Had an older native I liked for the most part but disliked that it was a lockback. Sage on the way since the cheap pm2 are sold out or delayed delivery.

My PM2 was more expensive than my Sage 1. I like them both, and think the price(s) were fair. I saw recently that the PM2 was offered some place a bit cheaper, but only by a few bucks. That price won't last I suspect.

My Sage 1 was more than my PM2, Many of us have both and they are totally different knives and both totally awesome in my book. My Sage goes to dinner and church while my PM2 likes go to work or play outside. Your going to end up with both anyway so get the one you like the most first!

Who said they were? Taiwan's also not the USA :p. I don't doubt any country is capable of producing a quality item. Generally I try to spend my money closer to home when I can.

Taiwan and China are not the same thing...

Got the sage. Beautiful knife, nicely made. Only nitpick is the top/bottom width closed, little chunky.

I own both. They're so close in price it's gonna come down to preference. I don't find the PM2 entirely comfortable in the pocket because of its size...it is very tall. That said, it's a more comfortable knife to hold than the sage 1 IMO. As for quality control, they're of equal build quality. I like the grind on the PM2 better than the Sage. I carry my Sage only on weekends when I go out because it's classy looking and unobtrusive even in suit pants. The PM2 is a tactical/working knife that some people may look at funny.

There's one knife I carry far more than either of them which I bought after both of them, and that's the Doug Ritter Mini Griptilian. It's just an easier knife for me to live with on a daily basis. YMMV of course.

EDIT just saw you bought the Sage. How do you like it?

I edited my comment above to add a little about the sage. Decided the PM2 was just too "tactical" for my current taste so, sage v pm2 became regular mini grip v sage.

I had a ritter grip I loved and lost. I thought the benchmade would have better customer service/warranty, be more comfortable in the pocket, open/close faster and easier, and I liked the blade shape better. But the spyderco won out because I felt the ergos in use would be better because of the choils similar to the ones on the native I liked and the thumb ramp. Also because I dislike valox/frn at the price point of the bm, sage's open construction, and better overall aesthetics of the sage.
