I am trying to decide wether I should get the sage 1 or 2...
I'm just going to be using the knife for EDC; no real hard use
Price doesn't concern me; I can afford either one.
I like both, but I just can't decide which one to get...
Any thoughts on which one i should get would be very helpful.:D

Thanks,
Zach

They're both very nice. That's why I have both.

Do you like carbon fiber or titanium?

I'm a bit of a CF freak. I can't explain why. I just like it. But, the Sage 2 is very nice, as well.

You can't go wrong with either one.

But, my standard answer for the "which one should I get?" posts is: Get both! :D

I would be happy with either one but I think if I was buying one myself I would go with the 1.

I would recommend the 1 over the 2. I have both. The lock can be sticky on the 2. The metal handle offers little traction. The only reason I can see for getting the 2 is if you're a titanium nut, as many people are.

Go with the Sage 1 ,I have both but the 1 gets more use, love the texture on the 1 ,linerlock works great, l like the contrast between the polished liners and the twill carbon fiber scales and it's easy to carry, easy to sharpen FFG slicer-hows that for a plug!

I had both, and still have the Sage 1, and carry it often. Can't go wrong with either though.
When I carry Ti I go with a Sebenza.

Sage 1 is lighter, smoother, and has better traction. Sage 2 is thinner and well titanium. What do you like more, Ti or cf?

Having both I prefer the 2. Had it re ground by Tom Krein and the thing is a laser. Nice and light and the frame lock is very secure. But I am a Ti nut. 2 small and 2 large Sebbies.

I have both and prefer the Sage 2 because the plain Ti makes the perfect Gents EDC.
Nothing wrong with the Sage 1, but the Ti framelock Sage 2 has smoother action IMO.
And nothing ages like blasted Ti.

Ahhhh... Decisions, decisions... I'm going to have to think about this one...
I've never had a carbon fiber or a titanium knife... And for the price of the sage 2, it just seems like a really good price...

Quick question about titanium... Since titanium is a metal does it get sweaty in your hands like stainless steel does?

I've never had a problem with sweaty hands while using Ti, but the ergo's on the sage 2 pretty much prevent any slippage if that's your concern.
The Sage 2 is often considered the "poor man's Sebenza".
You won't find a full Ti framelock of comparable quality for that price.

Thanks for the help!

All it comes down to is this: Do you want a carbon fiber knife or a titanium knife?

I have the sage 2 and I enjoy the feeling of titanium in my hand as opposed to carbon fiber. Like everybody else is saying, it all depends on if you like CF or Ti, frame lock or liner lock.

good luck

Suggest you handle both and then decide. Ive owned two sage 2s and a sage 1. The sage 1 is one of my all time favourite spyderco knives. It's also probably the smoothest opening knife that I own. I've got a thing for carbon fibre, and the black wire pocket clip is nice and stealthy. I like that.

The sage 2 is beautiful, a work of art really and the titanium rides real nice in the pocket. The only thing I don't like about it is that for me, the ergos of the frame lock are not quite as good as the ergos of the liner lock; I find the frame lock harder to release. Both knives scream quality, and are a tremendous value. IMHO the sage 1 is just slightly better. Best bet is to go to a knife shop and fondle both, then decide.

Or just buy both. After buying one you'll just end up buying the other anyway :)
