Sage 1 VS sage 2?

I am really thinking about ordering a sage tomorrow and I was wondering what you guys think is the better deal???

Im not really familiar with Carbon fiber or Titanium so either way it will be something new to me. Would the carbon fiber hold up better or are they about the same? I really cannot decide between the two that's why i am asking for opinions. It looks like an amazing sized little edc blade and from my understanding even tho it is made in Taiwan it is excellent quality. am i correct?

I had the same debate with myself and ordered the Sage 1. I really wanted a Carbon Fiber scales knife and after seeing the Sage 1 up close I pulled the trigger. The CF on the Sage is different than others I've handled as has a great texture and feel as well as being flat out gorgeous! I still may get a Sage 2 and possibly a Sage 3 down the road. You can always get both eventually. Judging by the success of the Sage 1 and availability, you'll be able to get the 1 and 2 for a good while.

thanks for all the input, I think im leaning more towards the sage 1 right now. I am really liking the look of the carbon fiber handles. gosh this is tough lol i am eventually going to have to get both

I was in the same boat, man. :p

I decided to save some cash (money's kinda tight) and go with the Sage 1. It's really a win-win decision. I get to enjoy the Sage design and save some money. I eventually plan to pick up the Sage 2 later. Something to look forward to.

Sage 1 is nice, but I'd beadblast the liners. I do not like shiny steel liners, blasting it makes it "appear" like ti, haha.

My secondary EDC is a Sage 2. Very dependable, ergonomic and pleasing to me.

I don't know what the current prices are but I found the Sage 1 for $86 delivered on that famous auction sight a few months ago. At that price, it's a great deal. I hope to get the Sage 2 also someday when I can afford it.

I like both models but currently only have the Sage 1.

I got mine for $69.99 via Poorfish when they were having a one-day sale at the end of last year. If you keep your eyes open, you can score one for around $75 to $80 pretty regularly.

Price has been a factor for me in not getting a Sage 2. Cheapest I have seen it has been around $149. Still saving my pennies for the Sage 2.

And then there's the upcoming Sage 3. Sheesh. Looks like I will have to start saving nickels instead of pennies.

Both are extremely well made. Really comes down to what you like and what you value most. While both are wrong-handed, so I don't carry either, the Sage I is more appealing to me for two reasons. On the purely esthetic side, I prefer the look of a scaled handle to that of any bare metal one, unless perhaps the metal is tastefully engraved. On the practical side, the texture of the Sage I's CF gives it more grip than the Sage II's smooth titanium slabs. Fact that it's less expensive would be the icing on the cake.

See if stormeroutdoors is still selling on ebay.

I like my Sage 2 more than my Sage 1, but only because I love the looks and feel of a Ti frame lock.

I also own the Sage 1 and both are exceptional in fit and finish. Can't go wrong with either. I have to say the Sage 1's price point is a steel, and I have noticed the price on the Sage 2 has been creeping up.

I love my new Sage 2 and the titanium feels almost silky smooth which is unlike my other titanium folders BUT I love the design and feel so much I plan on buying the Sage 1 as well.

Best of luck on your decision, you can't lose either way and you'll probably end up with both once you've had the chance to handle one. :)

If you can afford it, get the sage 2! It's an awesome knife, and really classy. Everyone who had seen mine has said what a nice knife it is.

I don't think you're going to notice much difference in durability between CF and Ti. You could probably express the difference in generations passed down.

I kinda wish they made a sage 1.5, i.e., Ti framelock with CF scale on the non-lock side. Does anybody know if you can Frankenstein the two?

ended up ordering the sage 1 should be here by monday or tuesday next week im pretty excited.

and as for swapping the scales on the the two i saw a video on youtube of a guy who did so i guess its possible :)

A certain shoppe that sells cutlery has the Sage I at an excellent price. All my dealings with them have been very smooth. Couple eBay sellers who have good feedback show it with lower BIN prices, but I have not done business with any of them so cannot vouch for them personally.

It can be done. At least one member here and on the Spyderco factory forum has done it.
