I received my brand new Spyderco Sage 1 in the mail today. All i can say is BOOM this thing is sweet. I have had BM's, Kershaws, Mcusta's, Seki Cuts, ZT's, and more but none of those knives have the fit and finish that the Sage 1 does. I honestly cannot believe that this knife came from Taiwan. It blows my mind. If anyone on these forums has any issue with buying Spydercos that were manufactured in Taiwan, worry not. I give you my word that you would be 100 percent pleased. I know my word doesnt mean much to you guys because you barely know me but you gotta hold one of these bad boys. The ergonomics are out of this world. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents out there. i have never had the urge to hop on the forums and talk about a new knife but i could not resist. Thanks for listening to my ranting and raving :D

Glad you like it! The Sage 1 is probably my favorite smaller (3" or less) knife, with the other two knives in the Sage series close behind. And yeah, the F&F of the knives coming out of Spyderco's Taiwan factory is really fantastic.

the only other spyderco i have owned was a delica. i wasnt a big fan of the delica. i had heard so many good things about spyderco knives that i decided to give them another chance. glad i did. can i expect the same quality from the rest of their knives?

Depends on the model, or more precisely, depends on the price range. The Sage is a good value, in part, due to its Taiwan manufacture, but you can find an excellent Para 2 or Manix 2, and a number of others for about that price and quality.

I just wish they offered some more normal run carbon fiber options.

My sage 3 was actually a little disappointing, dull as could be, and the spine and deployment hole edges were painfully sharp. Especially the hole, terrible, it was an easy fix though.

i dont plan on buying any more knives from the sage line but that is unfortunate funkmaster. as for the spine and hole being sharp, i like the edges. do you think yours was a defect? i noticed something else guys. i originally bought this knife because i wanted a beefy but LIGHT knife. Upon further inspection the liners have been skeletonized to further lighten the carbon fiber situation! amazing i tell ya.

Sage 1 is indeed splendid. For more yummy Spyderco goodness that's made in Taiwan, do check out the Chokwe. It is really quite remarkable and my fave ethnic-inspired Spydie.

I also recieved my Sage just the other day based off of these forums. I can not say enough about it and now other people that have seen it are in line to get one.

i actually found mine on amazon for 96 bucks. its definitely worth that 115 though!

I like my sage 1. It was so nice, I decided to sell off the sage 2, as it didn't feel up to par. I like the tension on the blade of the sage 1 better, and the lighter weight.

I have a Sage 1 and 2. Love 'em both. Really SNAP open. I've been kinda wishy-washy on pulling the trigger on the 3. I think I'll wait. It seems too similar to some Benchmades for my taste.

Except that the Sage 3 is pure Spyderco Sage in the F&F category - spelled near custom F&F and the Bolt Action Lock can be operated one handed like the Axis lock - just a little harder is all.

My Sage-1 is one knife I'll never get rid off. Perfect in every way. Can't think of anything about it I would change:thumbup:

I've edc my Sage 1 for about 4 months now. Great knife. The S30V blade along with the edge geometry make for a really great slicer that holds its edge very well. I cut a lot of cardboard boxes and plastic strapping. The thin edge holds up suprisingly well.

FunkMasterFlex,

I know what you mean about the edges on the hole and the back of the spine being "sharp." I took mine apart and made the spine half round, softened the edges of the jimping, and hole. I also slightly rounded some of the edges of the scales too. I think it feels a lot better.

I may round the edges of the scales a little more later.

Great EDC knife.
