Sage 2 chalky opening

I just got a Sage 2 for my birthday (hell of a gift) and it's predictably awesome, though there is one thing bugging me. It sounds really "chalky" when opening/closing, as if the ball bearing on the lock bar is generating quite a bit of friction. Anyone have an idea of a fix for this? Lubricant? Graphite? Cycle it a thousand times? Any help is appreciated. (Tried loosening the pivot screws to no effect.)

Give it a bath in warm soapy water and then rinse in warm/hot water, blow out moisture with hair dryer etc. Lightly lube with oil and use. That should take care of your problem if not you may have to resort to Warranty/Repair.

Take a closer look at the path that the steel ball is taking across the blade tang. Has it worn a path onto the tang yet? If not, then it is likely that the chalkiness you feel is the steel ball sliding over the small ridges left by the satin finish. Over time it should wear in, and become smoother if this is the case.

I just got home from picking up a new millie from ups and it had the same "gritty" feel/sound so I gave the pivot a few drops of benchmade blue lube and now it is as smooth as my other millies.

I added quite a few drops of Blue Lube and kept working it, the Blue Lube turned a nasty black.

Wiped it off as best i could, reapplied Lube and continued to work until Lube stayed blue.

Now the knife is silky smooth!!!

Thanks for the advice guys. I gave Whitedog's suggestion a shot and that seems to have ameliorated things a bit. The steel ball has only worn the slightest path so far so perhaps the chalky sound will diminish over time.
