I couldn't wait to get my new Sage 2, now I'm totally disgusted with a stripped clip screw and two ruined (correct size) Torx drivers.

Did you have to use that much Loctite?:grumpy: I have no idea how I'm going to get this screw out.

Sorry to hear that, can't say I had the same problem. Maybe try heating the screw with a soldering iron or something similar would break the loctite.

i had a hard time breaking the lock on my chokwe screws as well, but they came out clean

found this tidbit on Spyderco's web site:

Replacement clips kits may be purchased directly through the Spyderco Factory Outlet store. Please call (800) 525-7770 x 4 or (303) 279-8383 x 4.

It's a brand new knife. I heated the screw after it wouldn't budge on the first try, no dice. I've been able to cleanly switch all my clips (Manix II, Terzuola, Delica wave, Lum Chinese, Native) except this one. I love my Spyderco's so I am really disappointed :(

I'm either going to have to take it to a friend and have him drill out the screw or send it back to Spyderco.

You mean the head is stripped, not the threads, correct?

First I would try the elastic band trick

then try using the next larger size up, and finally, if neither of those work and you don't want to send it in, as the screw head is domed, it should be easy to cut a slot into it that will fit a flat head screwdriver. That is a much simpler solution than drilling it out.

Sorry to hear about the trouble.

I tried the rubber band trick, no go and I don't have the tools to cut a slot in a screw. Then I remembered my snap back watch case tool, it's like a spring loaded blade to pop off tightly fit snap on watch backs. It made quick work removing the screw, destroying what little of it was left. I've never seen a screw torqued down this hard, yet the other side came off like they usually do, with a quick wrist turn to crack the initial resistance of the Loctite.

Now I need a new screw, but at least I could switch the clip over to left hand carry. Thanks for all your help everyone.

Im glad you got it out, this happened to my dragonfly g10 and i used kleenex in between the torx and the bit and that seemed to work also

It's an awesome knife, I've been saving for awhile for it and the Leaf Storm that I just received. Trouble is, there's always another Spyderco on my wish list :D
