Got the sage 2 i ordered a while ago in the mail today. It looks and feels great and is by far the best knife i own. The one thing that bothers me is the pocket clip. I have heard that it is really strong and secure, but this does not appear to be the case with mine. I can wiggle it about a quarter of an inch in either direction with my finger when it is attatched to the handle and it moves around when I grip the handle. Is this normal for this knife, and if so will it affect performance? Love spyderco and the sage and will doubtlessly carry it for a long time.

you might be able to tighten the screw that holds on the clip. but i have never heard of those wire clips being loose. i would feel if the clip screw is loose if it is i would gently tighten it and see where that leaves you.

Yeah, it shouldn't be loose at all. You may want to add some loc-tite also. I had an issue with a lum chinese clip and spyderco's warranty dept. acted like I should have known to pull the screws and loc-tite them before ever using the knife.

I can't honestly see how it would be possible to wiggle the attached end of the clip anywhere near that much, even if the screw was falling out loose. On the other hand, it would be perfectly normal for the un-attached end of a wire clip to be able to move side to side that much and to move around when you grip the handle. Can't recall reading too many threads about broken ones, can't recall reading any for that matter, so if the wiggle is at the forward end of the clip, I'd say it's not a cause for alarm.

I tightened the screw and loc tited it which reduced the wiggle by about half. Thanks for the advice. There is still a little flexing but it should not be a problem.

Mine will flex side to side but performs it's job perfectly. The knife stays secure in the pocket. I love spydercos deep clips. I do think the one in my g10 caly 3 is a bit stiffer.

The clip is the only thing I don't like about the Sage 2. Mine wiggles quite a bit. Other than that it is grreat knife. I would much prefer a solid clip though.
