Hey everyone, I recently picked up a sage 2 with the intent to customize it to my liking. I'm a huge fan of stonewashed finishes. I attempted to stonewash the titanium, smaller semi smoothe stones with wd40. Shook for quite some time. Over an hour. Not even a scratch on the titanium. Should I remove the bead blasted finish first? Anyone ever stonewash titanium at home? To me it seems like the wd40 is preventing any scratches on the blade. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks

WD-40 displaces water, it doesn't do a thing to prevent scuffs/damage as would be apparent by the stonewashing process. I think you might need to use a heavier media to get any sort of results. Try putting a heavy guage plastic jar with a well sealed lid into the dryer, do not use heat. Let the cycle run for an hur, see what the result it.
Otherwise there are some members here that will do it for you for free.

Try gravel or something with rougher or more acute angles.

I used what I had in my front yard. Put it in a large gatorade bottle with a bit of water and dish soap.

and what they call mesa red gravel:

Might give it a try with my Voyager clip - should be fun to see how it turns out and if I can get it to match the blade, have a spare clip anyway.

Any body got a photo or two of one they already did?
