Hi Coltstudd,

Welcome to our forum.

"Someone said"

Why would we sell a product that had a problem?

Spyderco tends to discontinue any knife that's not selling, so folks must still be buying the Sage 2. As for lock wear, any lock will eventually wear out if cycled often enough. I doubt anyone has worn out a Sage 2 unless they sat opening and closing it for hours every day over a period of several years. If you actually use your knife as a tool, rather than a plaything, lock wear is a non-issue.

Sage is a great Spyderco series. Great size for EDC and great steel also.

There are many different locks available in the Sage lineup. If you are worried about locks, grab one of the other Sages. What attracted you to the 2 if you are worried about locking failure? Typically it's the opposite. Grab the lock you like the most.

I now have a Sage 1, 2, & 3. Of the 3, the Sage 2 is my favorite. I love the feel and look of the titanium and the mechanical sound it makes when the lock is engaged is mesmerizing. I have a lot of faith in the lock and don't worry about it wearing out. If you're interested in this knife I say get one. You won't be disappointed.

The Sage 1 sees a lot of pocket time too. Probably due to it being fairly light weight. I just got the Sage 3 and it's one of the smoothest knives I own. The bolt-action lock is easy to operate with just a thumb or finger. My only complaints about the knife is that it's quite a bit wider than the other Sages and the detent is a little weak.

Sage 2 is one of my all time favorites. So great I bought another just in case. Often I will reach for my sage rather than the knife the sage 2 pays homage to (Sebenza). That tells you something.

It's in my pocket right now. I took it with me this morning to feed the horses and then to town for brunch. Work knife, dress knife, melts into my hand. Tougher than what will be asked of it. I never worry about any lock on any Spyderco knife. One of my all stars
and the mechanical sound it makes when the lock is engaged is mesmerizing.

I'm not still buying them; I bought mine right after it was introduced, I am still regularly using it. Zero problems with lock wear. In my opinion worrying about lock wear on a framelock is akin to worrying about the door hinges wearing out on your closet door.

I sold my Sebenza after getting the sage 2, and haven't regretted it at all.

The Sage 2 is my favorite of the series to carry. It sees a good amount of pocket time along with some of my other favorite Spydies.

The Sage 2 is one of my favorites of all time from any production knife company.

been out of the knife game for awhile and just got back into it...Spydies mostly, you will not be disappointed with your purchase. The sage series is IMHO one of spydercos best run of knives. Small great f&f and ergonomic. Def. a good purchase. Me I am partial to the sage 1 since i love the damn click it makes when you fling it open. Enjoy your purchase..

The Sage series is an awesome bunch, especially the sage 2. I put a nice stonewash on the TI scales of this one.
