My Sage 2 arrived yesterday, I was on the fence about which knife to buy next and after seeing all the great customer reviews I decided to buy the Sage. When I first slide open the box I was a bit concerned as the bag containing the knife was already torn open so I thought that maybe this one had been returned by someone else. After looking at all the usual things, trying to find out what was wrong with this knife much to my surprise it's perfect. The blade is centered, no play at all when opened up and the edge is perfectly even on both sides of the blade.

I bought this knife in the hopes of using it as a smaller, more comfortable to carry EDC than my usual two favorites, the Manix C95 and the Benchmade Skirmish 630BK. I carried the Spyderco Native for a few weeks before ordering this knife so that it would help me transition to the smaller EDC.

The Sage 2 feels silky smooth and comfortable in my hand and once I started getting use to its smaller size it feels like it's going to be the perfect EDC for me. I've seen the term "functional jewelry" before and that is exactly how would describe the Sage 2.

It's a very nice knife and my current EDC. I like the size, the steel, СF handle scales and wire clip.

The clip is something I forgot to mention, I never though much of the looks of the Spyderco wire clip but after using it I like it better than any clip I have. It's very sturdy and must have less drag as it clips on and off very smooth.

The funny thing is when I first got started buying/collecting/coveting knives 8-9 years ago I hated the look of Spyderco knives. I mean they certainly didn't look cool and streamline like my CRKT M16 (which served me well so I'm NOT putting it down). At some point I bought the original full size Manix and it was all over then. It was obvious that these people knew what they were doing and I haven't looked back since.

Now that I've had time to play around with the Sage 2 I'm seriously considering buying the CF Sage 1, I'm not a huge fan of liner locks or I would have already pulled the trigger. I would HIGHLY recommend the Sage 2 for ANYONE looking for a great EDC or just a mid sized folder that was built with great attention to detail.

i was just checking these out on ksf & thought they would be a real handy carry able to handle 95% of the tasks in urban situations. thanks for the review.

I've never owned a Sage 2, but from the sound of it, it's a pretty nice blade.

Oh, and I've never heard of "functional jewelry" before, haha.

Great knife!

Great choice!

Like all Spydies it will bring you years of enjoyment.

I love ALL my Spyderco knives but there's something a little extra special about the Sage 2. This knife shows that Taiwan is capable of making knives on par with anyone and I wouldn't have doubted that (not sure why) if I hadn't see it with my own eyes.
