I have a powerful lust for a ti Sage2 rather than laying out the $$ for a small Sebbie.

I don't expect it to be on par with my large 21's but a very good small ti framelock.

I'm mostly concerned about unknowns. I don't own any Spydies but a Military and an Endura 4 ZDP189 right now but have owned plenty in the past.

Blade centering? I'm anal about that even in a user. Also I understand this is a non-hardened lock face so I'm concerned about that, even though I'm not a compulsive flicker of my folders.

Are there any caveats I should consider before pulling the trigger on this pretty little folder? Please share any negatives - I hate sending new knives back to dealers. Hoping for good reports!

Thanks!

I have probably owned 5 or 6 Sage2's, never a problem with any of them. The Sage2 is in my opinion one of Spyderco's flagship models. I had one as a constant EDC for about a year, and flipped it open all the time, no issues, and the lockbar might of moved over another 5%. All the ones I had were at about 20% on lock up right out of the box. It is a proven knife I believe. Fit and finish has always been great on the ones i've had.

Thanks atony. What made you get rid of them if I may ask? I don't really need this knife I just want it. :o

I always seem to get rid of my knives for one reason or another, honestly though the Sage is a great knife.

Cziv,

I just got a Sage 2 last week and the centering was perfect and the lockup rested at 30% out of the box. Of course with the TI scales you will get scatches on it. The S30V blade is razor sharp out of the box and I found it to cut through paper and cardboard smoother than the Para2 I own. I am about to order a 2nd Sage 2 only because I want a backup (and this will be the first knive I've ever bought a 2nd one of). I personally believe Spyderco outdid themselves with this Sage beyond the other 3 in the series.

Mine is perfectly centered and I didn't notice any flaws on it. Good steel, pretty light, carries well.

I've found the Sage 2 is easily on par with the small Sebenza. You won't be disappointed.

I would not worry much about their Taichung made knives, you should be happy with the quality.

The fit and finish is good, evenly ground blade and bevels, scales
lined up perfect and solid lock-up with no stickiness. Blade
centered when closed, then again I requested that the dealer
check for this before shipping. If you are really picky, I can point
out that the choil still had the ground marks, like a contour map.
Then again, I did have one of the first batches so that might
have been addressed in subsequent runs. It has smooth and
fast action and of course spyderco sharp.

The Sage 2 is easily on par with the small sebenza when it comes to fit and finish. It is really just that good. I've owned 8 of them so far (a lot of buying and trading, I have 4 of them now!) and not a single one of them has had blade play or an off center blade. Their Taiwan maker is fantastic.

Thanks John, saw your video on the Sage 2 and it gave me the bug for one.

Pick one up Chuck. It's a really nice knife, they do the S30V blade just right too.

Thanks CTS & Rev. I thought someone here would have one for me but it'll be bought online - it's looking like.
