wondering if on the S3 the liners can be pulled apart, in other words can the "studs" you use to unlock the blade be removed from the bar? thanks

I'm not sure if you know that will ruin the warranty. Maybe you would be better off sending it in if you have a problem, or thats what I would do anyway.

I'm pretty sure it could be done though, but I've never tried.
Maybe someone will be along that can help.

thanks newell, but lets see they were apart for assembly, so they must either screw together or are pressed together. hope someone wil chime in here.

Not my photo, not my knife, but at least one person who posts either here, or on the Spyderco Forum, has taken one apart...

I can't see how that finger stud is/was attached to the bar.
The finger stud on the 3 is integral with the plate behind it. The projection on the back of the plate that goes into the hole in the bolt could either be threaded or just a friction fit. Friction fit makes more sense to me, since the plate has to align with a recess in the scales, but that's just a somewhat educated guess. I'm still hoping whoever took the photo, or someone else who has actually disassembled one, will see this tread and chime in.
