Sage 5 in titanium?

Lurker here, first post.

Been looking for my first, and likely only, high quality EDC to replace my old Gerber that leaves a lot to be desired. (I'm obviously new to bladeforums and the whole knife obsession)...

After reading a ton, and playing with a few at local shops, I think the sage 5 is the closest to what I am looking for. Love the compression lock and corresponding action. Will be using this in an office setting often, so looking for a gentleman's everyday, and would much prefer it in titanium like the chaparral. Not a fan of the back lock though in comparison to the compression though. I suppose I could wait for a titanium sprint of the para 3, but I much prefer the carry clip for the sage (not a lanyard guy).

So, what do you think the chances of getting a ~3" sage like Spydie with titanium scales, compression lock and deep carry wire clip are? This would be the holy grail gentleman's EDC for me. Others agree?

Wonder if Sal has any plans to offer something like this...

Alternatively, I suppose I could go down the custom path and see if someone could make some high quality flytanium scales for the sage 5. Guessing that would more than double the overall price tag though...

Thoughts?

The Sage knives are meant to be a tribute to the different locks. I think the big question is would an integral compression lock Sage be a variation of the Sage5 or would that constitute a whole new model. I vote for the latter and fully support your suggestion to make the Sage6 an integral compression lock in titanium. Shoot, even if it was steel I would be a buyer.

Is that what you meant or just ti scales? There are plenty of scale makers who would make you scales for a Sage5.

Love the Ti Sage2. It's also the slimmest of the Sages by a hair. It and the Sage5 are definitely my favorites (5 in pocket today). I'd love to see another Ti Sage, but I'm hoping the next one is a button lock :)

Yes, I understand the idea behind the Sage line being a tribute to different lock designs, which means this is probably the last "compression lock" sage we will get. I didn't even know there was such as thing as the "integral compression lock" before you mentioned it. Found it on the Spyderco Salsa Titanium here: https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=29. Not sure how this lock compares to the PM2 / Sage 5 style compression lock. A new model that combines the great ergos of the sage 5 with the deep wire clip, compression lock and titanium would also be fine.

Doesn't really matter to me what it is called. What I am looking for is a knife in a similar geometry to the Sage, with the deep carry wire clip, compression lock and titanium scales.

Didn't realize Spyderco had a button lock. https://www.spyderco.com/edge-u-cation/knife-anatomy/locking-mechanisms/ From the looks of it, they don't, today, but I suppose that could change. Haven't used button locks before, but I would prefer a compression lock for fear of accidentally hitting the button during cutting.

You mentioned there are scale makers that will make scales for the Sage 5... Who would you recommend? I did some searching, but didn't find anything specific to the Sage 5 in titanium.

Thanks!

Try Bladeswelove. They have their own website, http://bladeswelove.com/, but you can also reach them through eBay, Instagram or Facebook. I believe they are making some of the best custom titanium scales for production knives throughout continental US.

If you don't mind waiting for extra production pending time and international shipping, then http://www.customspyderco.com/ is also a viable option.

Also "svr" on eBay got some interesting designs, but it seems he is only working with Para 2 and Manix 2 right now. I'm not sure if he's willing to do custom scale for Sage 5, but you never know until you really asked;)
