Sage 5 LW pivot and screw help

I have a Sage 5 LW that I got some aftermarket scales. All the screws are one size but there is one longer one- I can't recall if the longer one is for the clip or the pivot. My problem is the shorter screw keeps falling out of the pivot. I've found it in my pocket twice. It may be the scales are not fitting right but need some help.

Stands to reason if the small one is falling out, use the longer one?

I get it- but the longer screw seems to be holding the clip. I'm just trying to determine if the scales are faulty

I would hold the stock scale to the new one and see if and how much of a difference there might be
