You can’t beat the current price and M4, especially in a Native 5.Any opinions? Been looking to pick one up, preferably the m4 model blade with the spearmint scales. I have a sage 1 and love the blade shape, just want to hear thoughts
How are the lockbacks? I had a chaparral that was way too tight and had lockstick, also not having liners with just frn thats a concern tooYou can’t beat the current price and M4, especially in a Native 5.
So difficult haha, spyderco has 4 knives very similar. Both are available in m4 so its down to knife preference, i am a fan of wire clipsSteel choice aside, I prefer the Sage 5 myself. Slightly longer cutting surface and handle. I also like the wire pocket clip. YMMV.
Either are fine choices tbh.
Wanna sell itIt appears a more pastel green rather than the spearmint green if that makes a difference. Yes, I would prefer a wire clip asgazz98 does, but that’s just my personal preference. It’s still brand new to me, very first time I ever even opened it up just for these pictures I did now. If the color is really a deciding preference to you, wait till tomorrow and I’ll take some outside in natural sunlight for you, you only need ask. These pictures are no flash under just the overhead light in the room. I don’t own a Sage, so can’t comment on that one. The Native 5 is a great all around blade.

Is the lock easy to use? And is there much flex in the handle?Wanna sell ithaha
The lock is as easy as any other Native 5, yes, it’s easy but a firm lock up and a smooth release ( as long as no junk gets between the blade slot cut out and the lock opening, if does, just rinse or flush out, no need to take apart). Is the lock easy to use? And is there much flex in the handle?
Thanks so much! Im sold on a native 5 lwThe lock is as easy as any other Native 5, yes, it’s easy but a firm lock up and a smooth release ( as long as no junk gets between the blade slot cut out and the lock opening, if does, just rinse or flush out, no need to take apart).
There is no real noticeable flex in the handle, say compared to a Delica. If you hold it by the tip and the rear handle and wiggle side to side, the Delica definitely flexes more, though you really need to push hard and it’s barely noticeable, if
at all
The blade stock of the Native 5 appears slightly thicker than the Delica as does the Native 5 scales too, though just barely, could even be an optical illusion too (scales maybe, stock for sure).
I’ll throw a set of calipers on them for you tomorrow if you want, just ask. The Endura certainly moves more than either of them, but that’s a lot longer thus giving a more unfair leverage advantage to the comparison flex/move test, so I’ll discount that one completely.
I never flick my Spyderco’s open, nor do I let them do the drop shutty thing, I open them in a nice controlled thumb roll and they in return give me a nice satisfying firm loud click locking open. Same thing closing, controlled and with a satisfying and firm click closed, absolutely no doubt it took place either way.
My native 5 unlocks easily one handed and swings free. But no blade play. The FRN scales feel plenty solid to me. Yes they flex a tiny bit if really squeezed but still don't feel flimsy at all. I've squeezed down hard on mine whittling branches off sticks with zero issues. Is the lock easy to use? And is there much flex in the handle?
Thanks for your input just thought id ask, normally not into spyderco’s lw series but 115 bucks for m4 blade and a great knife was enough for me to pick one upMy native 5 unlocks easily one handed and swings free. Here is an idea you might want to keep in mind for down the road. Thanks for your input just thought id ask, normally not into spyderco’s lw series but 115 bucks for m4 blade and a great knife was enough for me to pick one up
