I bought a Sage 6 and it is a great knife - absolutely love it. I am sure others have noticed the similarity to the Chaparral, but it was a surprise to me. So I took a comparison picture.

They are surprisingly similar.

The blade thickness for the Chaparral is .08 while the Sage is .12, the Chaparral being significantly thinner. The weight difference is significant as well with the Chaparral coming in at 2.0 oz for the LW FRN version and the Sage with FRN is 3.0 oz. Never handled a Sage but the Chaparral is my favorite pocket knife, a real super slicer.

I recently noticed the Chaparral has a new upcoming version with Red Dark Matter Fatcarbon scales, a carbon fiber material. One can get a Chaparral for a buck twenty-five but the Red Dark Matter version is going to run an extra two bills. I love this model but wondering why so significantly more. Probably a real beaut though and I can attest to the high performance of the Chaparral as I own three versions.

You are absolutely right 👍. They are very different in the hand and in use. I was just trying to show the profile similarities. The sage 6 is like a chaparral on steroids. Very similar shape, but worlds apart in a three dimensional reality.
I took am wondering why the fat carbon chaparral is so high in cost. Tariffs maybe 🤔??? But I definitely want one.

Great comparison. I had no idea they were so similar in profile. The biggest difference though, as said above is probably the blade thickness, and you can get a Chaparral in SE now, which is on my must have wish list.
