Sage CF vs Sage Ti

I've read a lot about how great the Sage Ti is and how if you cannot afford a Sebbie the Sage 2 is a great alternative. I currently own a carbon fiber Sage and I love it. My question is how does the stainless frame Sage compare to the Ti version? Anyone own both?

Thanks.

The Sage II is a bit heavier and the locking mechanisms are different. The blades are exactly the same.

Mostly a question of taste. Both feel solid as a rock. Fit and finish on both is excellent. Both operate with equal, glassy, smoothness. All dimensions, other than weight, are virtually identical. Aside from the moderately increased traction provided by the Sage I's textured CF, the ergonomics are the same. Liners on the Walker lock of the CF version are thicker than some companies framelocks.

Personally, I prefer the "look and feel" of the CF version but, as with most matters of taste, YMMV.

I've never warmed up to Ti or even stainless scales as I scratch them up too easy and they are slick and heavy feeling to me. The CF on the Sage 1 was a perfect knife for me. Light, grippy, less expensive and gorgeous to boot!

I find the Titanium Sage gets more carry time, as an edc.
For me it becomes more personable, with the odd scratch or so on the handle.
The CF sage I carry, when we are going out, with the black clip and black handle, its my uptown knife. :p

As I head to church this morning, this is the knife I carry too. The uptown, gents knife. Low profile, non threatening and has a classy look to it.

But will cut like a banchie!

I own both and love both. That said, the CF version is slightly thicker so it does fill the hand better, not to mention better traction. If you analyze the locks you'll notice that the handle becomes even thinner when the Ti. framelock engages whereas the CF liner lock stays the same thickness because only the liner is engaging.

As was also mentioned above, the Ti. will scratch. I've dropped my Sage1 on concrete multiple times and the carbon fiber laughs at concrete. Just wipe or scrub the concrete dust off and it's good as new.

Another minor variable that's probably not even worth mentioning but I will is the pocket clips are angled slightly different so the Ti. version misses the frame lock.

I've had two Sage1's and my Sage2 apart and the 1's always end up smoother for me, I also like the pocket retention better due to the carbon fiber texture.

If I had to give one up it would be the Sage2. If you factor in cost, the Sage1 amazes me everytime. I paid $89 for the Sage1 and $140 for the 2.

The CF version is so nice, I never thought I'd have any interest in the Ti. That is, until I started reading all those Sabenza vs Sage 2 articles.

I tried the Sage2 and it didn't take long before I got a second as backup.

The two Sages are my favorite Spydies -- and that's saying a lot, considering how many fine models there are.

I just can't imagine how Sal and Co. are going to top these with Sage No. 3. (But I'm eager to find out.)

I just got my first Sage a few weeks ago, a Sage I. The quality and F&F are amazing. So much so that the Sage II went on my list very quickly. For the price and what you get, the Sage I is pretty hard to beat.
