This week I've been learning to start fires using a Bow drill setup. A neighbor who works for a Wilderness Therapy School in Southern Utah has been teaching. He uses a Sage Hearth board and showed me how to make one. Here it is along with the two knives I used in the construction, a WWII Western L46-6 Baby shark knife and Ka-Bar Mule:

Figured I would post these here since this forum was one of my big insparations to learn to make a fire with a bow drill. Thanks for looking!
 
Freakin' awesome stuff, brother.

I will say this, once you get a fire with a bowdrill, the feeling is just simply amazing. Makes you wanna beat your chest, grab a knife and head to the woods. :D

I'll never forget the first time I got a friction fire going. Life changing, it was.
