I was browsing a site that had the CF Sage 1 for sale and claimed it was made in the US, however the pics never showed the other side so I could not tell. I have a Sage and would prefer the US model is there any made here?

BTW, this got me thinking.. not to start a war but,,,,, why with today's economy are people subbing out their product overseas?? Everything seems to be negotiable in manufacturing.. let alone the costs of shipping!! why not keep it in Colorado or somewhere in the US?? People need jobs more then ever here right now and are willing to take major cuts in pay just to be employed..

I'm a contractor that currently works at a major modular manufacturing plant as a sub, they are hiring in-house journeyman in various trades as little as $10hr, in the field these guys would make $16-$25hr. Why are they settling for less?? well there's NO STEADY work out there for them..

seems to me Spyderco would make more money keeping it here.. I for one would pay an extra $20 knife to have it made here, besides its EMBARRASSING handing someone a knife made in Taiwan to use, only to repeat again how much you paid for it when they ask..

the bewildered look on their face, that much?? as they look at the Taiwan stamp.........

Can of worms my friend...can of worms. This topic has been discussed ad nauseam. If you use the search function, you will find many posts and threads about this topic with many of those posts coming from Sal Glesser. I'm informing you kindly as you should read these not only because they will provide an answer to your question, but also because they are interesting as hell to read:D

actually I only started the thread to see if some Sages were made in the US as this site claimed...

I guess I just got carried away in the moment.:p

I will have to do a search to see if there were any answers to this..

thx

The site you saw is wrong...

The Spyderco catalog webpage has a pull-down that sorts knives by country of manufacture.

Just about everyone who has actually held one thinks that the factory that makes the Sage series is at the absolute top of their craft, as far as production knives go.

I'm closing this thread as it will go no where.. fast....

I knew there was a reason for the search button:D

this has been covered extensively...

thanks guys...
