I found a knife called a Sail Cutters Knife in a book of antique tools. Intresting in its self. but the description said that it was made from a old hand saw.
Is old hand saw steel a good thing to try and make a knife out of? I have found mention of a lot of things beeing used for knife steel but never a hand saw. Cheers Ron

Lots of old tools were made of quality carbon steel. You just have to know how to coax the hardness back out of them to make them workable again before making a knife out of em. You should see the things my neighbor forges blades out of, lol. He is one industrious scrounger!
