We need a thread for the day !
What do ya know ?
I'm carrying my Spyderco Endura 4 (ZDP but hey . . . at least it's green). I carried it yesterday too.
Riding shotgun is the little made in Ireland Imperial Peanut that The Chef brought me from the flee market. She knows nothing about knives; she just got it because it said Ireland on it and it needed a friend. The thing is beat and rusty with play in the pivot (probably got run over by a car; there are no scales) but I put a nice contrasting mirror edge on it and carry it (and use it) to salute the crafts people of Ireland. It's good high carbon; takes a nice edge; looses the bur quick.

Of course I look forward to getting more knives that have been made in Ireland.
Whatdyagot ?
Whatdyknow ?

Happy st patties day!

Didn't even coordinate this. Just happen to be carrying this beater. Gave it a good work out on a bunch of cardboard even.

I finally got a chance to actually sharpen the small blade on the little Imperial I mentioned above.
Using the Edge Pro and the small knife attachment I had to raise the guide block all the way to the top stop to get on the bevel. Not the top colored line, the top of the pole. For what it is worth I used the Gritomatic T2 150.
I apexed it and pretty much took all the heavy rounding off the tip before The Chef ran me out of the kitchen to cook.
. . . I like food . . . I guess I won't return the volley.
Maybe after she goes to bed I can take the bur off. Looking at it in bright sun and high mag jeweler's visor I was surprised at the smoothness of the bevels. The stone cut well then with light single passes per side smoothed it out nice. This could be a true single stone sharpening method.

(you know me though; probably can't resist ruining it with a polished edge :()

Before that I had discovered the Endura 4 above had some light reflecting in the belly area.
Shapton Glass starting at 1,000 then SG 4,000 and just for the shininess of it I finished with the Gritomatic G8 8,000. it was cutting the ZDP-189 like crazy judging by all the black on the green stone.
Hey ! Green stone ding, ding, ding !
I had to constantly rinse the black off the stone so she wasn't glazing.
Goes without saying I got a shiny bevel.
I don't know if it whittles or not . . . all the hair on my arm leapt off as the blade was approaching and ran under the cabinet and tried to hide under each other; which never works.

I got on my Pendleton Highland Guards Black Watch Plaid . The heavier wool one. It's my favorite long sleeve shirt. Well it's green.

Is there an Irish plaid ? Sorry if that is a stupid question.

You know, my last name is Irish. My favorite color is a shade of green. However, short of an old Mora, I don't think I have a green knife...might need to correct that.

With that, I'll leave you with my late father (also Irish once upon a time) in law's favorite somewhat passive aggressive toast:

May those who love us, love us.
And those who don't love us, may God turn their hearts.
And if he cannot turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so that we will know them by their limping;)

Love that one.

My other favorite:
Here's to Hell. May it be half as much fun as the path getting there.
