i found one of these and debate picking up for myself,or
anyone who might be interested?
i've seen similar, but this one looks lil diffrent...(shield,etc.)

What is it called,and value?

Seems to be used very lil, just the scratches cross main blade....
May even be glue,or something from opening a pkg?
I think it's green,but possibly black?..if that is ossible?

It's a Trooper. You can see the catalog description in the photo below. There's also a Trooper in the top right of the photo.

...otherwise known as a GAK - German Army Knife. Victorinox had the contract at various times, but also many other slightly lesser companies. The modern GAK is now redesigned on the 111mm frame. They can be a little difficult to find in mint condition. It is a good outdoors knife, a lot of people like the aggressive one way woodsaw better than the conventional SAK saw.

As stated, it's a Trooper, the civilian version of the 108mm German Army Knife - GAK made by Victorinox (other makers did these too, but Vic's version is still the best).
The knife itself isn't that rare. Condition is fair. It is the earlier version, without the nailfile. The thing it's got going for it is the sawguard, as people generally lose that.

You can check the bay for recent Sold listings to get a proper value.

thanks for the info friends....the link is especially helpful as well...
some good read there....i can get it for 26.00,but think that's about the
worth since it's used.....i collect, and have tried to lately only get items that
will be an investment for my kids when im old an gray, well older an gray....

I got one each for my youngest boys when I was in Exeter UK a few years ago. The guy had a bin literally full of them in varying used condition. Picked out a couple of good ones for like 5 quid. One even had the guard .That saw blade is a mother-it cuts and I quote "Like a beaver on crack.":D
I can't see them being a blue chip investment meaning they won't go up in value anytime soon- Sorry mods if I am straying into pricey badlands.
An investment in terms of handing down a great and functional knife is more like it and that's gotta be good.

I have one of the Mauser-branded GAKs, from some mail-order catalog like LL Bean or Brookstone from the late seventies or early eighties. Mine has seen almost no use; I just picked it up because I thought it was cool. It still is.

Well,Thank you for the compliment.....Never had anyone say anything about it before...It's actually liners from
2 multi blade trappers that i made into single blades.....then took one of the spey blades and a back spring threw
together with set of curly maple scales......no bolsters, but it was just an idea i had......
i also took the blade and re-shaped it into a sorta wharncliff style....

again, thanks for the compliment, that made my day....

I´ve had one during my time in the German Army (Bundeswehr) - I liked it very much.
Unfortunatelly we had to give it back. So I did...
I know, when I left the Bundeswehr, I bought one of these to carry for EDC.

They are still very common here and frequently sold on Evilbay.

Somewhere on my short list to get. I carry either a Victorinox Farmer, Lumberjack, or Trekker when I'm hiking/camping. One of these would then give me another option to confuse my choices :)

Plus I'd like to get one to go along with my Victorinox OHT GAK, and 1969 issued Bundeswehr Camp Knife.
