SAK Bought 1988, Lost 1989, Found 2014

Hello,

Just thought I'd share.

I bought this knife in a Zurich department store while on a high school trip in 1988. I thought it was lost during a move in 1989 but I just found it this afternoon while looking through an old box of photographs.

Thanks for looking.

Mitch that is so neat, that was a long time comin:thumbup:

Now not as good as your story but hope your not offended if I share this?

We owned a family furniture store for nearly fifty years. We had many repeat loyal customers throughout our history. One day I lost my red cellidor Tinker that was a birthday gift from my step brother and sister, had NO idea where or even when it went missing. An educated guess would be that a sofa swallowed it whole...which one? Hard to say as we literally stocked over one hundred sofas at any given time.

A custom was when we received trade in sofa's, sectionals and chairs was to search the hidden place below and behind the cushions...to say we found some interesting things is an understatement;) approximately three years had passed and one day while searching the abyss of a trade in sofa I found my treasured red cellidor birthday Tinker:thumbup:

There was no doubt it was mine as I had engraved my name and date on the back spine of the knife;) I still have the knife to this day:thumbup:

I shared this story via pm with Jeff, aka arizonaranchman and he mentioned that it was a neat story. I thought I may have posted it here on the forum but wasn't certain? Your thread made me think of it Mitch so wanted to post this here. If I infringed I apologize and will delete the story part of my post:o

Bet ya felt GREAT!!!! Good for you! :)

Wow, that's amazing! Must have brought lots of memories when you found it. :)

Mitch and Paul, thanks for sharing your amazing stories of prodigal SAKs returning!:thumbup:
(Kinda gives me a faint hope that maybe someday I'll be reunited with a little fake-pearl pen knife I used to carry only for church and somehow lost track of. Of course, that was 50 years ago, so I'm not holding my breath! :D)

Mitch (and Paul!),

What a shock and thrill to find a long-lost pocket knife like that!!!

That's awesome.....be like getting back together with one of your good friends from high school that you hadn't seen in years. Good find!

Love both stories! Thanks for sharing. It does seem like there's something about SAKs that causes them to go missing for long periods of time and then reappearing. Mine do it, too (albeit not in as dramatic a fashion).
