FWIW, the Compact is $31.69 with free shipping at a large online vendor.
You might want to work backward and try to figure out what tools you need the most, then see what tool or tools covers your needs. At a minimum, I want a blade (usually a folder), real 3D phillips with long shank (for reach), a flat driver which doubles for light prying, tweezer (splinters) and Victorinox scissor (extremely precise for cleaning up scrapes and skin boo boos). I like to have a mini phillips (seems like the whole world is held together with mini phillips screws), magnifier and pin. My "requirements" may be a little more than most folks, as the train wreck between my ears is likely worse than the average guy. I also like to have a plier, but honestly it never gets used much.
So its helpful to figure out what you need, and then decide what fills that need. The Compact is
awesome, and a guy could do much worse than carrying a Compact and nothing else. Lots of guys like the Cadet, and though I own several, they just don't do it for me as they have no "real" phillips, tweezer and all the other stuff that comes with a cellidor SAK.
You can also do something like carry a Compact, and then supplement whatever floats your boat, like a County Comm keychain phillips driver or whatever.
But as between the Compact and Cadet, I'm definitely going to carry the Compact. I suspect that if you conducted a poll, though, the Cadet might win because of its thin countenance and durable build.
