In honor of Independence Day and as a little thanks to all the folks here on the porch, I’d like to give away this little Swiss Army knife. The traditional knife forum is my favorite as traditional knives are my favorite, and the atmosphere here is like that of an old front porch, so I thank all that participate and share here.

It’s new in the package.

I reckon the rules will be;

The entry period will be open until, Wednesday July 6th 2022, 7:00 PM.

Please post “I’m in” in this thread to be entered.

After 7:00 pm, sometime wednesday evening I’ll draw the names from my hat (actually using my hat in old porch fashion) and post the winner.

Since I’m not a paying member (yet) and cannot do private messages, and so the winner does not have to display their address publicly, I will post congratulations and my email address on the winners wall for them to contact me with their mailing address.

I think I am in compliance with all the rules set forth in both bladeforums and the traditional subforum, and I apologize to all if I’m not and this gets canned.

Very generous and a great Limited Edition knife. 👍
I'm out, however. As nice as that Classic is, I can't see it displacing my Mini Champ from my watch pocket or keyring.
That Classic deserves to be used; not sit in the package or on a shelf adding possibly extraterrestrial interplanetary/interstellar/ intergalactic dust to its dust collection, in addition to the more common/mundane dust created Earth Side by volcanos and wind erosion.

Good luck to all who enter. 👍😁

Happy 4th of July!

I’m in, happen to be looking at the classic and rambler this week. The patriotic theme is awesome.

My dad never carried a pocket knife. Kept one in his toolbox but never his pocket. I think he mostly rolled his eyes at my interest. One year for Christmas my aunt gave him a black classic. He put it in his keys and used it constantly. Mostly the scissors and tweezers but proudly pulled it out of his pocket every time there was a need for it. He was tough to buy gifts for, didn’t get excited about much, but this gift was a home run. Wish I knew what happened to that knife.

Thanks for sharing. I use the scissors quite a lot for a stray mustache hair. The tweezers not so much.

But I normally carry a Swiss lite model that has a red light in it. When I worked in the old building, there was light switches in the back of the room but none up front. I’d every day use it to navigate to the switch. It makes just enough light.

rishma, I think that is the core of reason the humble little classic is the worlds best selling 'pocket knife'. Its the teeny tiny little multitool that even non knife nuts find useful in real world every day life. Many years ago I had some family members who were definite non knife people. Wold never, ever carry a 'pocket knife". But...I got tired of them "Hey carl, lemmie see your knife" or "Hey Carl, can you cut this for me?" I went and bought them all classics for Christmas stock stuffers. A home run hit. For years after, the non knife family would pull out a well beat up classic from the keyring, and cut what needed to be cut. Scissors were a huge hit with the women folk, the SD tip's ability to deal with Philips screws a hit with the others. Niece Jennifer showed me how well the tweezers served as a roach clip.

Oh, not an entry by the way, but I applaud the giveaway with a standing ovation.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Not in because I have a black Classic that resides on my kitchen counter and has for many years. I use it to open packages, then use alcohol to wipe off the gummy stuff, as well as those wonderful little scissors. The file I use to dress up a ragged fingernail, usually from opening too many folders. I have found quite a few uses for the tweezers and toothpick, over time.

I also have a black Alox Minichamp that sees a fair amount of use, but, not nearly as much as the classic.

Anyone who doesn't have one should enter !

Makes a great keyring knife too.

The little knife that can do, IMO !!

Nice GAW, by the way !   ☺️

I appreciate everyone sharing even if they aren’t participating in the GAW. It’s been fun thus far.

It was a busy day for me, taking my aunt for a drs visit and then grocery shopping. But tomorrow I’ll be watching multiple times through the day and I’m excited to do the drawing.

Just to clarify, 7:00PM will be eastern (my) time for the end.

Not an entry, because if I were to win that patriotic Classic, I'd probably only carry it a few times a year: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day. But thanks for the generous and inspired GAW!:cool::thumbsup:

I can second everything J jackknife and Primble Primble posted above about the popularity and usefulness of the Classic. Early in my return to carrying a pocket knife, I ordered a Victorinox Tinker/Classic combo that was on sale online at a "big box" site, and I was astonished by how much use I got from the Classic when I put it on my keyring. I (like afishhunter afishhunter ) eventually "upgraded" to a Minichamp as an EDC, but the Classic was the real eye-opener for me.

Best wishes to all the entrants! 🤓
