SAK Classic SD Stayglow - toothpick/tweezers issue

Quick question to anyone who owns one of these, or just an SD Classic in general, doesn't have to be the Stayglow model. I wear my keys on my belt most of the time, but not all. Whenever I do, and the keys are busy making all their key-like noise, I'll look down to double check and notice that either the toothpick or the tweezers (usually the tweezers) are hanging anywhere between 1/4 - 1/2 of the way out of their little holster :thumbdn:. I've tried opening the tweezers wide to they'll set at a wider angle to help, but to no avail.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

I've carried a Classic on my keys for many moons, and never had that issue.

But I don't ride a pogo stick to work either.

Aaron have you ever modified or done anything to them? (tweezers or toothpick)

I've never had this issue (or heard about it) but I have wondered about the little "nubs" on them and wondered, maybe if they are gone/removed/not made right they could slip out?

Stick the SAK up your arse and you'll never have that problem again. The toothpick might taste a little "off" though.

If you ask me "why would I want to do that?" I'll tell you "Because sticking the keys up your arse hurts more ........and it's ghey"

I have my Classic in a small Kydex sheath, with the sheath attached to the keyring.

Aaron, I've had this happen once on a used classic I got from TSA trade lots. There is a solution.

Take some epoxy, and very slightly build up the width of the plastic toothpick and tweezers end. Do enough that when it hardens, it's too big to fit back in the knife.

Now, VERY SLOWLY, with a small fine file, take just enough of the built up epoxy down so the tools fit in very snug. Do this really slow. A few strokes of the file, then try the fit in the handle slot. It takes very little to do this, just a tiny dab of crazy glue, or other glue on each side of the tweezer and toothpick.

Or like for a buck each, buy new ones. :D

Carl.

I agree totally with carl (jackknife)... i've used the exact solution on my bigger SAKs and it work like a charm...

you better check out if the scale become loose... incase of loose scale from the liner, fixing or glueing the scale to the problem would also fix the loosen tweezer and toothpick issue...

I Have 4 Classics With The Tweezers/Toothpick And Have Never Had This Problem Occur. I Also Have Two Other SAK's With Toothpick/Tweezers And Don't Have That Problem.

I Carry My SAK's Regularly.

I'm having the same problem with my stayglow classic. I started carrying it in a little pouch to help prevent losing them. I might have to try Carl's fix though.

Undoubtedly what is going on is the nylon is a softer more flexible material and the cellidor is harder. Therefore the nylon stay-glow scales loose some gripping ability over time. It may even be that the nylon wears off some. I have seen nylon scaled SAK's with shiny spots from wear.

The toothpick on my nylon scaled Vic tradesman is always threatening to fall out. I don't think that nylon presents as much friction as cellidor.
